The Brodie group reverse engineers natural microbial communities to enable a predictive understanding of microbial diversity and function. We focus on communities that play important roles in environmental and human health, and sustainable energy. We integrate the tools of molecular biology, sensing and mathematical models to uncover, observe and predict how microbial processes interact with (eco)system function.
